oh no.
that's a song by commodores released somewhere around 1982. i madly searched that song on the interent. someone on the forum replied to my post and e-mailed me. that made my '30 dec' playlist complete, a music collection i gave out to some of my friends. they joined me on the dinner yesterday.
actually it was my birthday yesterday. i didn't want to make it a celebration thing but just a small get together.
today is new year eve but i'm happy sleeping.

i was hoping something new
i was invited in welcome program organized by amrit campus for new students.
not actually for me, but went there as an 'ex-student'. i remember there was a program for our batch (i.sc. 057/059, and b.sc. 059/062) as well...
what i saw today was once again a very poor presentation, the same 'uneasy' host, irritating long speech by the guests, noisy crowd and everything just awkward... and campus chief sir madan shakya even had to say that he would stop speaking if students don't stay 'silent'...

not finding that photo
yesterday evening i was searching a photo everywhere. couldn't find it.
i looked for it everywhere, almost everywhere... from under my bed sheet to all over the tables... inside the drawers, bags, into my files, and then on every book / copy / magazine, even page by page...
stunned... still didn't find that. i couldn't believe i lost that photo... i tried to remember where it could be - office? may be... i looked at my wrist watch, it's 21: 10.
i put on my long t-shirt, pulled the zipper up and rode my suzuki towards the office. thank that i have office keys with me. opened in... got into searching... i remembered once i put that photo somewhere in lonely planet guidebook. it's not there. into the drawers, inside the books, files, and everywhere.. i was back to hostel disappointed.
gee. this morning i found that photo lying on my friend's room. how? i don't know.

dogs with garlands
dogs with garlands! it is 'kukur tihar' in nepal.

they (dogs) must be mesmerized not knowing what it was. well, to tell you - we have a festival 'tihar' not only for people but also for animals. the first day of tihar is 'kaag tihar' (means crow tihar), the next is 'kukur tihar' (dog tihar), followed by 'gai tihar' (cow tihar) and then comes 'tihar' for us human.
for 'non-nepalese' tihar means 'festival f lights'. you can see every house and streets lit by candles or traditional lights.
'kukur' = 'dog' (in nepali) by the way. i should have mentioned this earlier.
this day a big red 'tika' is put on a dog's forehead and a beautiful garland around the neck. after worshipping the dog, it is given very delicious meal. the saying 'every dog has his day' comes true here ;) even a stray dog is looked upon with respect. on this day you can see dogs running around with garlands on their neck.
what? did you just say you want to be a dog? :)

not going home
i thought i was going home. but it didn't happen again. it was a phone call that changed everything.
my mobile rang early in the morning. my father on the another end of line told me that they want to celebrate tihar festival in dang. now my mother will go to dang straight from kathmandu. so will do my sister.
there would be no one in home. i told them it was ok. so, i am not going home.
wish you happy tihar...

now you may think - hello where is this? - but the truth is that these things are just beginning in this part of world.

mobile is back, exams are over
okay, there you go. finally, my mobile link is restored. they had to. i don't know how long and how many times this 'royal' government can crack down on the civil liberties.
B.Sc. 3rd years exams are over by yesterday.
hey you, come on. now call me, write me, and find me. i am back again.

they count i may be posing 'security risk'
my mobile phone is still cut off. this government thinks 'security risk' will be increased if you let the public use mobile phones.yesterday a few lines were restored but not mine.
it's time to realize this is a place where everybody is frieghtened. they can arrest you, or shoot you who knows? because soldiers too are afraid as you are. a day worth forgetting.
you can't ring me yet... my mobile is still dead. it's all because they think i might be posing 'seurity risk'. i am angry.

its 2062 ! - new year in nepal
doesn't matter where the world is (somewhere at 2005), in nepal it is 2062 from today (14.april.2005). wish you all a happy new year.
i celebrated this new year in a pretty different way; like never before. no party or anyhing like that... my friend bishwas, and i climbed the rooftop of ascol hostel just before midnight, rolled on the backs, watched the night sky, and steered to deeming lights... it was all good.
another year begins, and i don't know how far this life goes on... is it counting foward or a down count? the journey continues...

share with somebody you don't know
this may sound a bit crazy but sometimes i think wouldn't it be beautiful if you had a pal (yes, someone you have never met, unknown) whom you could write about your days, how things are going on etc... and may be they would reply... that would be amazing.
i'm sitting in my room tapping this keyboard. this is a new year eve! (in nepal 2062) but i am not going anywhere. exams are near.

why this blog?
i think we should write it all down, the inner thoughts of our mind and heart, because then we really begin to know ourselves and what really makes us continue on. in such mindfulness is unspeakable power, to heal, to help, and to grow up, at last, in this awful and also wonderful world we live in.
